Latest Cool Cars and Hot Concepts of IAA 2009 : BMW Vision Efficient Dynamic

AMAZING! This is exactly what motor shows are all about
Crazy, futuristic concept cars that look otherworldly.
The BMW concept car, Vision Efficient Dynamics, Undoubtedly reflected an
innovative driving concept, with functional approaching and vivid emotional
design.
Like other typical BMW sports car, the accentuation of this BMW Vission
Efficient Dynamics design was on its harmony and reflecting the efficient
aerodynamic visualization in lightweight construction.
The form-follow-function principle not only seen on the overall appearance of
this car, but also include every exterior and interior details, whereas the
front, side, rear and even its roof, were integrated in design. Undoubtedly, the
layer-designed technology developed by the BMW Design Group Division was the
platform for this car’s design. It resulted in its smooth body surface and
reducing too many unnecessary components, thus enlighten its weight
The BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics also designed with a lot of aerial access.
Such as pillar-A, that’s allowing the air to flow all the way to the rear lamp,
while the car’s floor was flatly designed from back to front. this was
intentionally designed to avoid the air-circle underneath the car that affected
in high fuel consumption.
The new concept of the jet-air was the plug-in hybrid engine. The idea was to
combine the M3 engine capability, but less in fuel consumption. With this
combination, BMW claimed that the car can reach 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.
The engine concept is using the 1.5L turbo diesel engine, or only half of 3.0 L
engine type that BMW firstly applied on the 335d series. With the maximum
performance of 163HP on maximum torque of 214 lb-ft, the machine was combined
with 6-speed DCT transmission, the same type used on M3 and Z4 model.
Another new system implanted in this BMW Vission Efficient Dynamics was the
developed technology from light-hybrid engine which firstly introduced on the
ActiveHybrid 7 model. just like the ActiveHybrid 7, the electrical 33HP engine
was placed between the machine and its transmission, and the 80HP projected from
both engine was able to give the thrust on the front axle. Total output gained
by these three engine was 356HP on 590 lb-ft torque! Amazing!
