Audi Q5 – New Generation SUVs

The 2009 Audi Q5 is the latest luxury entry in the small crossover-SUV market segment, which has grown rapidly in recent years here in Asia, and automotive pundits believe it will continue such growth. The Audi Q5’s overall look is handsome and appealing, with good proportions and exquisite detailing in items like the LED headlights and taillights. Audi’s new “shield grille” dominates the front end styling, and it makes for a very attractive face. This is no ordinary criteria for an Audi,    typically. Powered by a relatively small motor, the Q5, nonetheless, delivers impressive performance along with reasonable fuel economy. And with Audi’s new Drive Select system, the Q5 transforms from a cruiser to a canyon carver at the touch of a button. This is the first Audi we’ve seen with the new Multimedia Interface (MMI) controller, which also brings in a new computer-based navigation system. The Audi Drive Select adjusts the suspension, transmission and steering for different types of driving, letting you choose Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, or Individual. The Auto setting changes the components between Comfort and Dynamic settings on as-needed basis. For example, if you start driving aggressively, it will move the transmission and suspension to Dynamic. For the Individual setting, you can use the MMI to set the steering, suspension, and transmission individually for comfort or dynamic driving.
The engines in the Audi Q5 combine high performance with refinement and impressive efficiency. Two powerful gasoline engines and two potent diesel units with direct injection are available. The gasoline engines feature the Audi valve-lift system, which helps to reduce fuel consumption. The two TDI engines are efficient standard system.
With outstanding efficiency and excellent dynamics, the 2.0 TFSI engine combines the advantages of a turbocharger with the Audi FSI technology. Thanks to this combination, the potent gasoline engine achieves an output of 165 kW (211 bhp). In conjunction with the optionally available S Tronic the Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI quatro sprints from  a standstill to 100 kph in 7.2 seconds.

The 2009 Audi Q5 captivates, from its cabin gadgets to its performance technology. The new navigation system pushes it up the scale in terms of cabin tech ratings, and is also accessorized by a sleek phone and audio system. The Audi Drive Select technology gives it a big boost in terms of performance, greatly complementing its well-tuned engine and Quattro system.
